Donnie Darko is caught within something that he can't understand. He feels vaguely and yet helplessly aware of some oppressive fatalistic power much greater than himself. He's forced to ponder the possibility of time travel. He's got a large discarded fragment of a jet liner where his room used to be. He's haunted by Frank the Bunny, the pre-matter ghost of a boy that Donnie has yet to meet. Frank has a bad habit of predicting doomsday, the end of Donnie and possibly the end of the world. But, Donnie does at least go to a school where he has Drew Barrymore as an English teacher, so at least something is going his way.

Frank the Bunny is captured here in all of his dusky-hued apocalyptic splendor. The ragged black bunny-suit dangles from a lanky frame. A patch of grey marks the underbelly. Shabby ears droop above the bunny mask, a grinning death's-mask with large soft-boiled eyes eyes and oversized rodentlike teeth jutting past an underslung chin. This is the kind of bunny that would probably kill the Easter traditions of bunny-baskets and egg-hiding. This is the kind of bunny that would send Elmer Fudd running in the opposite direction. Frank the Bunny has a base that includes the rural mailbox and fateful letter to Grandma Death.
